There’s Still Six Weeks Left to Join The Big Butte Challenge

Published on Sep 9, 2022

All the Central Oregon attri-buttes we love: views, brews, swag and sunshine!

In its second year, the self-paced Big Butte Challenge kicked off May 30 and runs through October 5 with a myriad of added fun, including three additional Butte Challenges, more breweries, new swag, corporate team challenges, and the chance to win a four-pack of tickets to the upcoming Sir-Mix-Alot performance at the Century Center. This is a fun way to keep the family entertained before school revs back up.

There’s still time to register–choose one, a few, or all the Buttes to conquer.

The partner breweries for this year’s Challenge include:
  • Bessie Butte – 10 Barrel Brewery
  • Black Butte – Deschutes Brewery
  • Pilot Butte – Worthy Brewery
  • Barnes Butte – Wild Ride
  • Overturf Butte – Goodlife Brewery
  • Tumalo Butte – Cascade Lakes Brewery
  • Misery Ridge – Wild Ride
  • Paulina Peak – Bend Brewery

In its second year, this event features more buttes, beer, prizes, and ways to engage with the local community. Once registered, participants can hike, run, or walk each butte, on their own schedule, in any order, with a team, family or solo, using the Big Butte Challenge app to track and report on their progress. There are awards for first finishers, fastest division times, best summit selfie, and more.

Registration is open at www.bigbuttechallenge.com. The registration fee is $120 for the full 8 Butte Challenge or $20 for the buttes of your choice. All registered participants will receive a “We like big buttes and we can not lie!” hat, an entry to win a four-pack of tickets to the upcoming Sir-Mix-Alot performance at the Century Center, and other swag.
