Assisting Realms High School Sophomore Art Class with their “Power and Privilege Expedition”
Collaborating with Karen Rose, Realms Art & Crew Teacher, N The Zone Ink provided a tour of their facility, insight into screen printing production, and constructive feedback on student designs. The Realms High School students toured the facility with owners, Josh and Deanna, learning about the workspace and production processes from design concepts in the sales office to the burning of screens in the back of house.
Realms sophomores were assigned the task of researching and presenting on specific topics and issues linked with the role of power and privilege in the community. Working in teams, the students created strong designs that expressed a message inspiring change and hope towards these topics and issues. N The Zone provided constructive feedback on designs involving balance, proportion, scale, font choice, and printability. Screens were loaned by N The Zone to students so they could turn their finished projects into tangible products. The students’ finished merchandise will be for sale soon.
