Applications are now open for families of students enrolled in Bend-La Pine Schools to submit a request to attend a choice option school, as well as to request a priority attendance area change. Choice option school requests for grades 1-12 and priority attendance area change applications both are due by January 19 at 3 p.m.
Applications for kindergarten choice option schools and for the district’s Dual Immersion (English and Spanish) program, which operates at four schools, are due by March 22 at 3 p.m.
Choice option schools provide learning opportunities distinct from traditional school programs. Students are expected to meet the same standards and requirements of other schools in the district, and they benefit from unique programs that cater to their individual interests.

The District uses a lottery system to select students for choice option schools and the Dual Immersion program. Applications are open to currently enrolled students and those who are enrolled for the 2024-25 school year.

Families of enrolled students also may apply to have a student attend a neighborhood school outside of their current attendance area. Priority attendance area requests are approved or denied based on student needs, available space in the school, the particular grade or program, impact on enrollment balance between schools, and appropriateness of the program. Families may request a regular attendance area change after the priority window closes Jan. 19.
