Alumni and students of the Leadership Bend (LB) program had the opportunity to volunteer on Earth Day this year to support the work of the Upper Deschutes Watershed Council, and current LB student, Executive Director, Kris Knight. Over 30 LBAA members got to hear about the purpose and vision of the Riverbend South Access & Restoration Project, and then participated in planting in an adjacent riparian area to the Deschutes River. With their friends and family, alumni planted approximately 300 trees, shrubs, and grasses native to Central Oregon that grow naturally along our local rivers.
Stewardship, education, and collaboration are some of the cardinal principles of the Leadership Bend program, and this event is a strong reflection of how this group of dedicated individuals shows up to support our classmates and community at-large.
