Civics Learning Project and Central Oregon Community College are teaming up with The Getting Better Foundation to present Trust Me, a feature-length documentary exploring how media technology is influencing society and what we can do about it. “TRUST ME” explores manipulation and misinformation at the intersection of human nature and information technology. It explains how that drives a need for media literacy. Expert interviews point the way toward a positive future.
There will be a community screening of the film on April 27th at 3 pm at COCC’s Wille Hall in the Coats Campus Center located at 2600 NW College Way, Bend, OR 97703.
Following the screening, there will be a panel discussion about journalistic integrity featuring local journalists.
Light refreshments will be offered.
“Everyone in our community has an obligation to seek out accurate information. I hope this film gives people a push to think critically about the media they consume. In a democracy, we need to solve problems together, but that only works if we have shared facts and quality evidence to guide our decisions,” says Amy Sabbadini of Civics Learning Project.
This event is made possible with help from a generous local donor and the assistance of our partner organizations, The Deschutes County League of Women Voters and The Lay it Out Foundation.
