The Bend Chamber Business Excellence Awards is an opportunity for our community to come together and celebrate some of the amazing accomplishments of Chamber Members over the course of the past year. The ceremony will recognize a diverse range of organizations, including large corporations, nonprofits, small local businesses, and community leaders.
CATEGORIES
We will honor two organizations from each category, one large (more than 40 employees) and one small (40 or fewer employees). A total of 10 Awards will be presented. Please note that businesses are not eligible for nomination if they received an award in the previous year (view 2022 recipients). Please see below for award criteria and nomination forms.

Important Dates and Prerequisites

- Nominations accepted through January 1, 2023, at 5:00 p.m.
- Organizations have the ability to self-nominate or nominate another
- Award recipients will be announced in early February 2023
- We will celebrate and recognize awardees in person at the Riverhouse Convention Center on March 7, 2023
- Tickets go on sale January 9, 2023

Becoming a member is easy. Nominees must become paid members by January 8 to be considered for an award.
Award Criteria
Excellence in Innovation
- The recipients of the Bend Chamber Business Excellence Award for Excellence in Innovation have demonstrated unique innovation through technology, product development, transformative business practices, or other techniques.
- A successful applicant can clearly define how their innovative business practice or product made a significant impact on or for their organization/industry/market/client base through data and testimonials.
Examples of innovation include:
- How to maintain or improve service while enduring staffing challenges.
- Creating a new product/service offering (or expanding one) based on the needs of a changing, post-pandemic marketplace.
- Establishing critical win-win, collaborative relationships with other entities within a business ecosystem.

Excellence in Workplace Engagement
- The recipients of the Bend Chamber Business Excellence Award for Excellence in Workplace Engagement shine a light on the internal human resources practices that create a uniquely inspiring and welcoming place for their employees to work and thrive.
- Successful nominees demonstrate the creative ways that their policies and investments have improved organizational morale, recruitment successes, increased retention rates and contributed to the ongoing education/upskilling of their workforce.
- An ideal recipient will be able to provide employee testimonials or and have a proven track record of how their efforts have positively impacted their employees over time.

Excellence in Community Stewardship
(Non-Profit Exclusive)
- The recipients of the Bend Chamber Business Excellence Award for Excellence in Community Stewardship have a significant impact on our community and the greater region by leveraging their expertise, actions, and limited resources in a truly effective way.
- Nonprofits that receive this recognition have established themselves as an essential component of Bend’s ecosystem through their work and by raising awareness about the needs of the individuals or causes they serve.
- The ideal candidates for this award can tell the compelling story of how their actions and vision contribute to the betterment of our society through personal anecdotes and testimonials from those impacted by their work.

Excellence in Organizational Growth
- The recipients of the Bend Chamber Business Excellence Award for Excellence in Organizational Growth will have navigated the challenges and opportunities of rapid success strategically and effectively.
- Businesses receiving this recognition will be able to tell the story of how they balance driving profit while also placing an emphasis on their workforce and the demands of maintaining a strong team. In addition, recipients will be able to articulate how they plan to sustain their growth and potentially diversify their offerings in the market.
- Examples of growth include increases in sales, profit, market share, jobs, physical footprint, or other measurable metric(s).

Lifetime Leader Award
- The Lifetime Leader Award celebrates the accomplishments of an individual who has had a substantial impact on our local organizational ecosystem and the community at large.
- The recipient will have displayed a profound level of leadership that helped steer Bend to success, while investing back into our community with their time and resources.
- A strong candidate will have a positive track record of creating deep ties with our residents to strengthen our foundation as a community.

Emerging Leader Award
- The Emerging Leader Award celebrates one of our communities’ under 40 individuals
- The recipient is someone who is passionate about and has made great strides in pursuing growth in their professional careers, with their community impact and in their personal lives.
- An Emerging Leader is dedicated to being a continuous learner and takes advantage of opportunities to increase their knowledge and cultural competency. They are often innovative, collaborative, encouraging of others and values-driven.
