WALLACE GROUP HISTORY
Scott Wallace, R.G., President/Principal Geologist of The Wallace Group, Inc., originally founded the Bend-based, geo-environmental and construction services practice for a large national engineering firm (Kleinfelder) in 1997. Scott grew up in Bend and was happy to return to his hometown and continue his career as a proud Bend Lava Bear alumni (1980). The practice grew and thrived for over 12 years, however, as the recession deepened in 2009, Kleinfelder decided to close four of the six “smaller market” Pacific Northwest offices that Mr. Wallace was managing at the time, including Bend. The Bend office had grown to be one of the most-successful and profitable Kleinfelder offices for its size across the country, and Scott was not willing to let all the hard work, sacrifice, relationships, and solid market position the firm had attained go for not. He negotiated a deal to purchase the practice in March 2010, renamed the firm The Wallace Group, Inc., and continued on with five employees.
Wallace Group’s current staff of 19 have become the “Recognized Experts on Central Oregon’s Geosystem,” and provide practical, applied earth and environmental science solutions to clients in the transportation, water, energy, commercial, industrial, institutional and governmental markets.
Since 2010 the practice has once again grown and flourished with the addition of multidisciplinary engineering, earth science, and construction service professionals. Wallace Group’s current staff of 19 have become the “Recognized Experts on Central Oregon’s Geosystem,” and provide practical, applied earth and environmental science solutions to clients in the transportation, water, energy, commercial, industrial, institutional and governmental markets. With unparalleled expertise and experience, Wallace Group works as a team to deliver multidisciplinary consulting services throughout the project life cycle from initial environmental studies, due diligence and permitting, to geotechnical and geological engineering studies, water supply and water right evaluations, environmental compliance, and construction services including special inspection, soil, rock, and materials testing.
Wallace Group’s dedicated employees have accumulated an unmatched wealth of geoscience and construction industry experience, and developed an enthusiastic culture focused on applying earth science and engineering principals to solve societal and natural resource challenges. “We exist to serve our clients, communities, and employees by providing an environment where honesty, teamwork, integrity, innovation, education, and technical expertise are encouraged and recognized,” said Wallace. The firm prides itself on contributing practical solutions that create value for projects of all sizes and enrich the quality of life in the communities we serve. “We are committed to our clients’ success and the loyal, hard-working employees who have helped us to build a successful, sustainable, reputable, and rewarding consulting practice over the years,” said Wallace.
