Farewell Bend Park

While I was on medical leave, a year and half ago the Technology Association of Oregon approached me regarding the challenges technology companies in Bend were having and what could the organization do to better help companies recruit diverse talent, retain diverse talent and how to support more equity and inclusion in the workplace. Many of these companies don’t have HR departments and don’t have someone who has expertise or time to focus on these issues. We brainstormed what needed to be done and I was asked to come out of retirement and could I help.

Ranemaker institute was founded on the need that individuals, organizations and small cities needed help in understanding how to discuss inclusive innovation and create action plans that benefited themselves, their companies, their organizations and their communities. Studies have shown that traditional diversity and inclusion training doesn’t move the needle alone and that companies in the top quartile for gender, racial and ethnic diversity are more likely to have 35% greater financial returns above their national industry medians. Diversity, equity and inclusion isn’t affirmative action but ensuring all employees feel valued, respected, all their capabilities are used to their full potential and we create an environment where everyone thrives.

Many times, diversity, inclusion and leadership training are not available at affordable prices for small and medium size businesses, communities and individuals even though they employ two thirds of all American citizens.

Ranemaker Institute understand it requires personalized strategic and tactical plans that are aligned with your organizational business objectives and understand the nuances smaller rural communities embody that are different needs than urban cities. Not only do companies, organizations and communities need assistance with how to enable, empower and value all team member contributions but also individuals struggle in communicating their diverse competitive advantages they bring to the table.

Many times, diversity, inclusion and leadership training are not available at affordable prices for small and medium size businesses, communities and individuals even though they employ two thirds of all American citizens. In addition, many diversity and inclusion organizations are not trained in brokering multi-stakeholder partnerships that are needed to enable success of diverse organizations to work together to ensure inclusivity needs are met in communities. Ranemaker Institute has been founded to help startups, small and medium size businesses, individuals and communities to leverage Inclusive Innovation as their competitive advantage and help with practical actions that can be taken short and long term to build inclusivity. We strongly believe the importance of Inclusivity and Diversity in driving Innovation and practiced across an organization and not just in compliance. We provide tools to enable multi-stakeholder partnership to thrive when approaching inclusion in their community. In addition, we believe it is important to support organizations in our local community so we work within the budgets of organizations and donate significant amount of services to ensure all the needs of an organization is met and do not short change the process due to the lack of funds an organization may have. To date Ranemaker Institute has donated more than $50,000 of services in supporting client projects, the Bend Inclusive Innovation Initiative and organizing events, panels and discussions around diversity equity and inclusion for the City Club of Central Oregon, Bend Chamber of Commerce, and International Women’s Day.

“The diversity, equity and inclusion advising with Rane is extremely helpful. She made me aware of women owned business opportunities and how to launch a successful consulting business. She is highly detailed outlining necessary steps to take and connected me to future consulting opportunities. I highly suggest her advising.” – Rachel K.

Through this work, our CEO has volunteered to lead a team of leaders in Bend to determine what needs to happen to ensure all voices are heard and we create the tools to ensure everyone is treated equitably and inclusively in the workplace. Through these efforts we worked with leaders to ensure we have free advising at the Small Business Center at COCC for Diverse Business Owners, a Diversity Leadership Series of affordable trainings for businesses and non-profits, and a Diversity, Equity and Inclusion training for Public Sector Partners through COCC.
