By: Patty Davis, Business Development Manager- Bend Chamber & Leadership Bend Class 2017

The five finalists for the 2017 Leadership Bend Impact Summit (LBIS) on May 11th have been chosen and they are: Campfire Central Oregon, Deschutes Children’s Foundation, Healthy Beginnings, Human Dignity Coalition and Oregon Adaptive Sports.

The process toward the 2017 LBIS originally involved multiple applicants evolving to ten non-profit organizations who were chosen through a rigorous, competitive criteria. Representatives from each organization participated in a series of workshops designed to further their skills and acumen in areas such as Finance, Strategic Planning, Board Governance, and Marketing. The workshops were conducted by Bend’s leading experts in their respective fields, including Mathew Hamlin of Jones and Roth CPA, Jen Rusk of Rusk Coaching and Consulting, James T. Lussier of The Lussier Center, Robert Rekward of Delicious Design, Pam Stevenson of Awesome Bend, and Diane Allen of EloquentExpression.com.

The five finalist organizations will compete in the “Pitch For a Purpose” event on May 11, 2017 at The Hampton Inn where the winning presentation will earn $10,000 for their non-profit organization. A separate “audience choice” award of $1,500 will also be awarded. The general public is invited to attend this event to support those making “pitches,” and to vote for the non-profit of their choice.

To date, with the help of generous sponsors, the LBIS has awarded $24,000 to local non-profit organizations such as Healing Reins Therapeutic Riding Center (2015), and La Pine Community Kitchen (2016). Sponsorships are still available for the 2017 event.
