Latino Association Receives $25,000 Grant from NW Area Foundation

Bend, Oregon – July 24, 2017 – The Latino Community Association (LCA) has been awarded a grant for $25,000 from the Northwest Area Foundation to provide general support for strengthening and expanding LCA services throughout Central Oregon that empower Latino families to thrive.

According to LCA’s Executive Director, Brad Porterfield, “This support comes at a pivotal time in our development as we take two key strategic steps to build our capacity this year by hiring a Volunteer Coordinator and a Development Manager – steps that will expand and improve current services while building long-term sustainability to meet the increasing need for our services.”

LCA provides English classes with childcare, English tutoring, computer training, employment coaching, citizenship classes, family health supports, and youth development.  These grant funds together with other grants, business and individual donations, and volunteer support will make it possible for the Association to serve over 2,500 people this year across Central Oregon.  Community members and businesses are encouraged to contribute to the success of our families by joining the Association, donating, and/or becoming English, computer or citizenship tutors.  For more information call 382-4366 or email
