City councilors agreed to support a joint ODOT/City of Bend INFRA Grant (Infrastructure for Rebuilding America) request with $5.5 million.

Utilizing the recently announced $50 million state transportation package, the city and ODOT is hoping for matching federal grants in the neighborhood of $60-$70 million. Noting Bend is serious about the planned transportation infrastructure upgrades along Highway 97 and Highway 20, the extra $5.5 million from the city would come from the Transportation Partnership Strategy fund and the Juniper Ridge Urban Renewal Fund. The councilors also moved to add another $500,000 from city funds to further enhance the chance of a positive outcome of the grant request.
