BEND DESIGN 2018 // Convenes Creative Thought Leaders to think BEYOND DESIGN

“…engage our forward-thinking, talented community in a meaningful conversation about the role of design in our daily experience and how thoughtful design invigorates and inspires us,” says ScaleHouse co-founder and BEND DESIGN Co-producer, René Mitchell.

BEND DESIGN 2018, presented by ScaleHouse, will take place on October 25, 26 & 27, as three-day event for creative thinkers, designers, and disrupters who seek to explore the processes and practices that enable design thinking to alter our approach to the challenges and opportunities in our lives.

Through talks, workshops, films and panel discussions, Bend Design will examine: Are today’s innovators solving all the wrong problems? Can we learn from pain? How can a fast-growing city evolve smartly while preserving its character? Will the average business lose its personality before it loses its way? How do design, architecture, sound, and art change the world?

Bend Design believes to answer life’s important questions, we need innovative thinkers from all walks of life. Craft brewers. Ranchers. Entrepreneurs. That’s just to start. We’ll also need dog walkers. Librarians. Triathletes. And we’ll need professional creatives—designers, architects, writers, and artists trained in creative problem solving. Some call it Design Thinking: a way to delve deep and come up with elegant solutions we can apply to real life.

And, new this year: BEND DESIGN is adding a third day, BEND DESIGN FOR GOOD on Saturday, October 27. Bend Design for Good aims to unite design thinkers with organizations confronting the most pressing challenges our time, including Design Equity Tournament by Visible, and Urban Planning Design Charette with Sarah Kavage.

“This year’s presenters are aligned with the innovative and collaborative spirit that distinguishes Bend as a hub of entrepreneurialism. ScaleHouse has masterminded BEND DESIGN 2018 as a way engage our forward-thinking, talented community in a meaningful conversation about the role of design in our daily experience and how thoughtful design invigorates and inspires us,” says ScaleHouse co-founder and BEND DESIGN Co-producer, René Mitchell.
