Bend Chamber Members: Get Involved with Young Entrepreneurs Business Week!

Are today’s high school students prepared to become tomorrow’s business leaders? Young Entrepreneurs Business Week (YEBW), a 501c3 nonprofit, educates and inspires the next generation.  YEBW invests in Oregon youth, the future workforce and our local economy.  Their reach and impact are profound; as they serve, mentor and empower hundreds of high school students from more than 25 Oregon counties statewide each year…

BendBroadband and now Tykeson family foundation, sponsor kids attending this incredible week for the last 6-8 years. As you know, business has somewhat of a bad rap in Oregon. Businesspeople need to “grow their own” and expose kids to the magic of business, the opportunity it provides and the impact it can have to change lives and make a difference through employment, giving back and serving customers. What fired the Tykeson Family Foundation up about this program is that it takes high school kids for one week in the summer to a college campus, they stay in dorms and have a mini college experience. The kids are working in teams, with volunteer business people serving as advisors and a panel of experts convenes to give feedback to the teams for the final presentation of a business concept.

Bend Chamber member companies might be interested in serving as advisors, on the panel of experts, or providing scholarships to kids that might not otherwise be able to attend. To get involved click here.
