Why did you decide to become a judge?
It is a humbling experience to be on this panel of judges. Not only are the applicants exceptional human beings, but my fellow judges are a group of smart, savvy and accomplished women. I am deeply honored to be a part of this process. It was an opportunity I wouldn’t miss for the world.
What does the Woman of the Year Awards mean to you?
We live in a community filled with extraordinary people. We have women from all walks of life that are excellent business owners, employees, mothers, wives, athletes, students etc. I think the Women of the Year Awards is honoring all of the remarkable traits that we find in our female community. Considering how challenging it is to choose a few single individuals from a deep pool of qualified applicants, I think the Women of the Year Awards is creating a collection of role models that we can all learn from.
Stephanie Anderson Stroup, owner and founder of Twist Cocktail Catering Co., opened her business in 2008. Three years later, she launched its sister company, Olive Bartending Service, in both Central Oregon and The Columbia River Gorge. Since its inception, Twist has gained popularity throughout the region, most recently earning the “Best Beverage Caterer” award from Oregon Bride Magazine and the Bend Chamber’s 2014 “People’s Choice” award.
Stephanie’s strong worth ethic derives from her midwest roots growing up in Iowa and Minnesota. After receiving her bachelor’s from Iowa State University, she moved to Bend in 1998 where she established herself as a leader in the nonprofit and public health sectors. When Stephanie isn’t working on her business or volunteering in the community, you’ll find her with her husband, Adam, and their kids out on the trail hiking, skiing, mountain biking, mushroom hunting, camping and hanging out with friends and family.
