Calling artists and volunteers!

Start Making A Reader Today (SMART) is gearing up for the fourth annual SMART Art: Show, Sale, Social with its SMART at the Library events.

SMART invites young artists to participate in the Art contest connected with SMART Art. This year, SMART is inviting the whole community to take part in the fun at these upcoming free events:

Deschutes Public Libraries:

Sunriver 8/11 from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m.

La Pine 8/14 from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m.

Sisters 8/21 from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m.

Bend 8/27 from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Redmond 8/28 from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m.

Crook County Library:

Prineville 8/20 from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m.

Jefferson County Library:

Madras 8/25 from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

SMART will provide all the materials.  All you need is a love of reading and some time to relax and channel your inner artist.  Art pieces submitted by children ages 3-18 will be eligible for prizes at SMART’s fundraiser in the fall.

The SMART Art:  Show, Sale, Social event is scheduled to take place at 5:15 p.m. on October 22 at Kendall Toyota in Bend.

SMART at the Library is also an opportunity for the organization to recruit volunteers for the 2015-2016 program year.   It only takes one hour a week to be a volunteer for SMART in your local schools!

Can’t make it to SMART at the Library. Log onto www.getSMARToregon.org and click on the “Call for Submissions” link to find out about submitting your book-inspired art pieces for SMART Art, 2015.  Or if you are interested in volunteering log onto www.getSMARToregon.org and click the “Volunteer Now!” button on the homepage.
