Awesome Bend announces finalists for $1000 Pitch Night

Awesome Bend has announced the finalists who will vie for its next quarterly grant of $1,000 at Pitch Night on July 19.  The event will be held 6 – 8:30 p.m. at the Deschutes Brewery Tap Room, 1044 NW Bond Street in downtown Bend and is free and open to the public. Finalists will present their ideas for making Bend a better place to live, work or play and a group of ten trustees who each donate $100 to form the collective grant will select the winner.

The finalists include:

Central Oregon Sk8 Share: connecting under-supported youth in Central Oregon with skateboards and skateboard gear

Inspiring Leaders to Act on Climate Change: organizing a conference to educate our leaders and community about climate change

Pollinator Revival Project: creating a chemical-free, harvestable perennial/pollinator garden at the Pilot Butte Cemetery

Protect Animal Migration: educating the community about the crisis facing mule deer and other wildlife in Deschutes County

Younity Inspiration Day: bringing bully-prevention programs and workshops to Central Oregon schools

“I continue to be awed at the flow of inspirational ideas we receive,” said Dean of Awesomeness Pam Stevenson. “People care about making Bend better and we are honored to encourage and support them.  This will be another incredible Pitch Night.”

Awesome Bend’s mission is to inspire and support creative ideas to make Bend more awesome with money and mentorship to help turn them into reality.
