The Tower Theatre Foundation is the recipient of a $9,000 grant from the Daryl L. and Patricia L. Swenson Fund and a $1,000 grant from the Williamson Family Fund of the Oregon Community Foundation to help fund the Tower Theatre Foundation’s education manager for a third year.
The mission of the Tower Theatre Foundation is to be Central Oregon’s leading performing arts organization, providing cultural and educational programs that make essential contributions to the region’s lifestyle and strength of community.
LessonPLAN (Performing Live Arts Now) is an outreach program funded by grants and contributions to the Tower Education Fund. It brings students to the theatre and takes performers into schools. Educational matinees and assemblies engage minds and enhance curriculum through, and about, the performing arts. This school year alone, led by Mollie Tennant, LessonPLAN reached 4,946 students in the tri-county area who experienced an array of programming, including: Through the Eyes of a Friend: The World of Anne Frank; Mistatim; Mariachi Sol de Mexico; Professor Smart-Fun With Physics; and BodyVox.
The mission of the Oregon Community Foundation (OCF) is to improve life in Oregon and promote effective philanthropy. OCF works with individuals, families, businesses and organizations to create charitable funds to support the community causes they care about. Through these funds OCF awards more than $60 million annually in grants and scholarships.
OCF makes grants through an application process that involves local citizens in the review and evaluation of requests for funds. Application materials are available through the foundation’s Portland office. Individuals or businesses interested in establishing a fund may contact the Bend office at 15 SW Colorado Ave., Suite 250, Bend, OR 97702, 541-382-1170 or visit www.oregoncf.org.
