Tickets on sale for Cork & Barrel Wine event series

Tickets are now available for the fourth annual Cork & Barrel wine event series, benefiting KIDS Center’s child abuse evaluation, treatment and prevention programs.

Cork & Barrel events are fresh and fun with a focus on one-of-a-kind food and wine experiences.  The three-day series offers something for everyone, from intimate winemaker dinners, to the festival-like atmosphere at A Sip of Cork & Barrel. Cork & Barrel culminates with the Grand Cru main event and auction.

Each year Cork & Barrel brings a new wine region to Central Oregon.  This year, KIDS Center is proud to host a group of preeminent winemakers from Santa Barbara County.

Kendall BMW of Bend and Hayden Homes present the newest event in the lineup, “A Sip of Cork & Barrel,” on Friday, July 14. Guests will enjoy Santa Barbara wine tasting paired with small bite cuisine from the recently re-opened 900 Wall, 5 Fusion, Broken Top Bottle Shop, “The Row” at Tetherow and Executive Chef OJ Robinson of the Benson Hotel in Portland.  Fun wine-themed games offer a chance to win bottles of fine wine, handbags and $1,000 cash. The event runs from 4:30 to 8:30 p.m. on the lawns of Broken Top Club.  Tickets for “A Sip of Cork & Barrel” are $75 per person, and are available online at www.corkandbarrel.org.  Participating wineries include Artiste, Sunstone, Sanford, Turiya, Presqu’ile, Brewer Clifton, Casa Dumetz, Marcellotto, Martian Ranch and Vineyards, Cambria and Nielson by Byron.

In addition to “A Sip of Cork & Barrel,” three multi-course winemaker dinners are also planned for Thursday, July 15.  Seating for each dinner is limited to 40 guests.  The 2016 winemaker dinner lineup includes the following restaurants and wineries:

  1. Chef Joe Kim of 5 Fusion and Sushi Bar, featuring wines from Sanford Winery, at 5 Fusion.
  2. Chef Kevin Linde of Pronghorn Resort, featuring wines from Brewer Clifton and Casa Dumetz Wines, at Pronghorn.
  3. Chef Bette Fraser of the Well Traveled Fork, featuring wines from Martellotto Wines, at Sparrow Bakery, NWX.

Tickets to each winemaker dinner are $100 per person, fully inclusive.  To reserve seats, visit www.corkandbarrel.org, or call Talena at 541-647-4907.

The Grand Cru event on Saturday, July 16, presented by Avion Water Company, features a lively wine reception with appetizers by Zydeco/Bistro 28, followed by a five course wine pairing dinner. Guests may also choose beer pairings from Worthy Brewing.  A thrilling live auction includes a trip to LA to see Jay Leno’s private car collection, a weekend of luxury Bacara Resort in Santa Barbara, wines from all over the world, a full suite for a Trail Blazer game, unique dining and much more. Tickets to the Grand Cru event are currently sold out. All event proceeds benefit KIDS Center.

“Community support through Cork & Barrel reduced the gap in reimbursement rates for our medical services and has extended the same healing therapeutic services we offer children to their non-offending parents and caregivers,” said Shelly Smith, executive director of KIDS Center.  “Parents play a critical role in their child’s healing in overcoming the devastating impact of abuse.  Our goal is to give them the knowledge and tools to fully support the healing process.”
