Small Business Management Program still open for registration

Many business owners are overwhelmed with the daily responsibilities of their business or don’t know how to get it to the next level. It’s very common to find a business owner in a position of working so hard in the business, he or she can’t focus on managing and growing the business.

If you know of a business owner who fits this description, tell him or her about the Small Business Management (SBM) program for small business owners offered through the Small Business Development Center at Central Oregon Community College.

The SBM program combines monthly, individual on-site business advising customized to the business’s needs, together with a comprehensive selection of monthly classroom topics in a cohort environment. The program helps business owners identify the key issues that will help move them towards achieving their vision.

Most small business owners don’t have a lot of formal training in business, yet they have to manage all areas of running their business from planning, marketing and sales, product and service delivery, finance and accounting and human resource management. Through the SBM program, business owners expand their knowledge in these areas, learn to assess their strengths and weaknesses and to develop a sound business action plan that helps take them to the next level, thereby building a well-functioning business.

Instructor and SBM advisor Jim Wilcox has over 20 years of experience working with businesses. His background in management, business ownership and human resources along with an MBA from Portland State University makes him uniquely suited to address the variety of challenges small business owners encounter every day. The SBM program is open to a limited number of companies with at least one year of operation and one full-time employee. The list of Central Oregon SBM graduates is highly recognizable and includes many well-known businesses.

Monthly classes start Feb. 3, and there are still a few seats available. If you’d like your business to participate, please call 541-383-7290 for details.
