The Oregon Legislature’s “short session” began on Feb. 1. Even-numbered short sessions are the result of a ballot measure passed by voters in 2010. The first was held in 2012. As with any session, short sessions have deadlines. In contrast to sessions in odd-numbered years however, these deadlines come up very quickly.
February 1: Session begins
February 5: Work sessions must be posted for bills in their house of origin
February 11: Last day to hold work session for bills in their house of origin
February 18: Last day to post work session for bills in 2nd chamber
February 23: Last day to hold work session for bills in 2nd chamber
March 6: Constitutional sine die
Rules, Revenue, and Ways & Means Committees are exempt from the above deadlines.
Bills for the Session, although not yet formally introduced, are available on the Oregon State Legislature website.
