Bend Recovery Home open house

Last year, Bend Recovery Home received $484,999 grant from Oregon Housing Community Services to purchase and renovate a triplex to provide housing to families engaged in the Deschutes County Family Drug Court program. The Bend Recovery Home – Centennial Complex will provide housing for up to nine parents and their children, including one live-in house manager who is a successful graduate of the Family Drug Court program. Families are expected to begin moving into the home Sept. 1.

Bend Recovery Home is hosting an open house at the Centennial Complex, located at 682 SE Centennial Avenue in Bend, on Aug. 30 from 4 – 7 p.m.

The open house will provide community members the opportunity to see pictures of the home before and during construction, as well as do a walk-through of the three units beautifully renovated by Rodgers and Rodgers Construction. Paul Helikson, president of the board, expressed, “Bend Recovery Home is incredibly grateful for the support from Oregon Housing and Community Services and the local community whose outpouring of generosity has made this dream a reality.”

Community members can further support Bend Recovery Home by purchasing tickets to “A Benefit Comedy Night Starring Mark Lundholm” on Monday, Oct. 3 from 6 – 8 p.m.

Mark Lundholm’s humor is a wild ride of challenges, changes and second chances. From humble beginnings as a homeless criminal, addict, mental patient and prisoner of San Quention State Prison to a world-renowned entertainer, Lundholm has worked his way up – literally from the gutter. Lundholm has performed in all 50 States and 10 foreign countries, including appearances on Comedy Central, Showtime, A&E, NBC, and CBS.

Proceeds will benefit Deschutes Family Recovery and Bend Recovery Home, both 501(c)(3) organization, providing services to families in Deschutes County affected by addiction. Tickets are available at: www.towertheatre.org.
