About $28,000 will be presented to Oregon Adaptive Sports (OAS) from 100+ Women Who Care for the organization’s first bus.
The presentation is scheduled to take place June 5 at 12:30 p.m. at the OAS administration offices on 63025 OB Riley Road.
The local Bend Chapter of 100+ Women Who Care voted to award Oregon Adaptive Sports on May 12 with their collective donation of $100 from each member adding up to $28,000.
“Transportation is a major barrier for individuals with disabilities living in our community,” the news release states. “While OAS has a 1995 GMC mini-van, it is not wheelchair accessible or ideal for transporting participants.”
Having an accessible bus would allow OAS to better serve individuals with disabilities and offer a broader range of programs at a lower cost, according to the news release.
OAS plans to have the van purchased by mid-June to assist with summer programs.
