July is Smart Irrigation Month and the City’s WaterWise Program is offering a free, public workshop for Bend water customers interested in learning more about their irrigation system and how to operate it.
Bend water customers can join Water Conservation Program Manager Mike Buettner to learn about residential irrigation systems, how they operate, what components they include, how smart irrigation controllers factor in and how to save water in the landscape.
“Irrigation systems can use incredible amounts of water if not properly maintained and managed,” Buettner said. “They can also be pretty confusing for the average homeowner. This workshop will help clear things up and provide some great information and experience to take home and incorporate into their own irrigation systems.”
Attendees will learn about typical irrigation components and have a hands-on opportunity to try four different smart irrigation controllers. Attendees are also encouraged to bring questions about their own irrigation systems and controllers.
The workshop will be held from 5:30 – 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, July 26 at the City’s Utility Department administration building, 62975 NE Boyd Acres Road in Bend.
Registration is required and space is limited. Visit the WaterWise Workshop link at www.waterwisetips.org to register online or contact the City of Bend Utility Department at 541-317-3000 (option #2).
